Zebu originated in Southern Asia and are thought to be one of the oldest breed of cattle, as well as the smallest. They are characterized by a large hump behind their neck and are no taller than 42" measured directly behind their hump. Because of their manageable size, parasite and disease resistance, and their tolerance for heat, they make a great addition to Florida farms. In our experience, with a little patience and a lot of grain, zebu can be very friendly with their owners and often appreciate neck rubs and ear scratching!
